The Botuline Toxine (Botox®)
At Tha-In Clinics, we carefully examine the whole face to determine which treatment best suits you. In this section, we will discuss and explain how you can accentuate your natural beauty with Botox®. The botulinum toxin specifically targets aging skin resulting in tighter skin and the diminished appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
What is Botox® for?
Botulinum toxin is used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. It relaxes the muscles, so that the treated muscle can no longer contract. Medically, Botox® is used for muscle spasms, migraines, excessive perspiration, and face symmetry after paralysis. As a cosmetic treatment, botulinum toxin is used to reduce, for example, frown-lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.
What exactly is Botox®?
Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring neurotoxic protein. It is a toxic substance, but in medicine it is diluted thousands of times. At Tha-In Clinics, Botox® is used according to NVCG guidelines. After injecting Botox®, the effect from nerve to muscle is almost immediate. As a result, the muscle movement decreases and the muscle is less able to contract.
How long are the effects of Botox® visible?
After one to two weeks you notice the effect of the treatment. Your skin becomes tighter and the wrinkles become less visible. The effect of Botox® are not permanent. They will gradually disappear after 3 to 4 months. The treatment can be safely repeated after the effects fade.
Is injecting botulinum toxin safe?
Botulinum toxin is a drug. This has led to a lot of research into the side effects and complications of Botox® before it was approved. The botulinum toxin is injected at low concentrations and, therefore, is non-toxic and safe when administered by a trained professional.
Treatments with botulinum toxin (Botox®)
Botox® for the crow’s feet or laugh-lines
Laughing is the main cause of crow’s feet. A few fine lines can be charming and cute, but as soon as crow’s feet are clearly visible, this can be upsetting. With botulinum toxin, crow’s feet can be managed. Botox® softens these wrinkles and may make them disappear completely.
Botox® for forehead wrinkles
Wrinkles on the face are a sign of aging. On the forehead, these wrinkles are often visible between the eyebrow line and the hairline. These lines are caused by the many emotions we express on our face on a daily basis. With Botox®, these wrinkles can be also be managed. Starting Botox® at a younger age can decrease the depth of wrinkles when compared to starting treatment at a later age.
Botox® for the frown lines
Frown lines can be deeper than other wrinkles on the face. Frown lines can often create an unwanted look of anger. With a Botox® treatment we can ensure that these frown lines reduce in size or even disappear completely. It is a simple procedure and the results last for three to four months.
Botox® for an eyebrow lift
With the help of Botox® you can also lift the eyebrow. This is done with so-called micro-Botox. Botox® evens out the eyebrows and gives the face a more open and fresh look.
Botox® for excessive perspiration (hyperhidrosis)
Botox is not only suitable for wrinkles; it can also be used to treat excessive perspiration. Injecting Botox® in the armpits inhibits sweat production over a period of approximately six months.
Botox® for migraines
Botox® is known as anti-wrinkle treatment, but it can also be used to treat other problems like migraines. Botox® works by relaxing the muscles around the stressed area, often the forehead, temporarily hindering the muscle from contracting. This can reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and migraines.
Botox® for teeth grinding
In addition to treating migraines or excessive perspiration, Botox® can also help treat teeth grinding. Botox® is injected into the jaw muscles, reducing muscular tension in the jaw. After several treatments with Botox®, teeth grinding will decrease or even cease completely. This treatment helps prevents wear on your teeth and leaves your jaw less tired.
Botox® for highly visible gums when smiling
Laughing is beautiful! Sometimes when you laugh too much your gums become visible, which can be unpleasant. Botox® can be injected into the muscle that stretches the upper lip during laughing (lavator labii superioris). The treatment relaxes the muscle making gums less visible when laughing, keeping your beautiful smile without showing your gums.
Botox® for square jaws
Round or oval jaws are a sign of femininity. When your jaw is too defined or too angular it quickly looks masculine. This can easily be treated by injecting Botox® into the jaw muscle. Botox® relaxes the jaw muscle, reducing the muscle over time. As a consequence, the jaw becomes more oval or heart-shaped.
Botox® for scars
Recent scientific research has revealed that Botox® can be used for scarring and keloid therapy (excessive scarring). Botox® helps wounds heal, making the scar less red and less widespread. The precise mechanism of action is not known at this time, but we have seen great results.

Botox® for skin enhancement
Recent research has shown that Botox® improves skin quality with an intradermal injection. It reduces redness and also superficial blood flow from conditions such as rosacea. Also, facial secretions can decrease, resulting in less pimples and a more even skin tone.

Botox® for facial paralysis
A semi-facial paralysis due to a transient ischemic attack, stroke, facial paresis or Bell’s paralysis is unfortunately more likely than we would like to think. Due to the failure of the facial nerve (Nervus facialis) on one side of the face, you may get more wrinkles on the unaffected side of the face. As you age, your face can develop in a skewed fashion. Botox® treatment can provide the perfect solution. Using Botox® on the unaffected side of your face can create more symmetry. The final result depends on the degree of paralysis on the affected side of the face. Dr. Thanya Tha-In has extensive experience in treating clients with this disorder.
